Is hiring frozen until January, or does it just feel that way?

Nurses were asking a version of this on r/newgradnurse all through August: applications out, nothing back, and a theory forming that hospitals have stopped taking new grads until the January cohorts.
We want the fall stories either way. Did your offer come in September or October, or did the winter cohort turn out to be the door?
If a recruiter or manager told you when their units add new grads, that timing detail helps the whole room.

Worth separating the feeling from the calendar. Hiring is not frozen, but cohort hiring is lumpy: programs collect applications in short windows, interview for weeks, and answer in batches, so a quiet October can already contain a January yes.
On our board this morning, 3,679 postings state that new grads are welcome, and half of those went up in the last fifteen days. The winter windows are dated too. UCLA takes Spring 2027 applications September 4 through 11, Baylor Scott and White runs September 7 through 27, Texas Health posts its winter cohort September 24, and Mayo Arizona closes October 5.
So the useful move in a quiet week is calendar work, not more volume.
