Children's National Hospital

The hospital is transforming pediatric medicine for all children through its clinical care, research, education, and advocacy efforts. The Children's National Research Institute conducts basic, translational, clinical, and community research programs aimed at improving the well-being of children throughout their lives. For nursing professionals, Children's National operates under a Professional Model of Care that requires registered nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, and hospital policies. The hospital supports the development of RN relationships within the community, particularly those associated with the health and well-being of the community at large. A BSN is preferred for nursing candidates, and at least one year of RN experience is required, along with a DC RN license. New hires complete hospital and nursing orientation and are expected to keep their knowledge base current with changes in their specialty area.
