Schedule

7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (Saturday and Sunday nights) Work Location: UAB St. Vincents East Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more Description: We are a 23-bed specialized cardiac stepdown unit. Our unit manages patients recovering from structural cardiac procedures such as TAVR (Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Replacements), LAAO (Watchman device), TCAR (Transcutaneous Carotid Artery Repair), and others. We also care for patients that have primary cardiac diagnoses such as chest pain, abnormal cardiac rhythms, and congestive heart failure demanding continuous telemetry, medication management, and skilled nursing interventions for high-risk patients.

Patients on 7 North require closer monitoring and care than a general medical unit, so our patient to nurse ratio goal is lower. Staff on this unit are both BCLS and ACLS-certified, trained in Phase 1 recovery, as well as skilled in ECG interpretation enabling our team to provide the best care possible. We operate on a pattern rotation schedule that only requires you to work every fourth weekend.

We are seeking detailed individuals who are team players, able to adapt to situations requiring swift actions resulting in the best care for our patients.

What You Will Do

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire.

  • What should I expect for holiday, call, and rotation?
  • What orientation, preceptor time, and ongoing unit support are included?
