- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPAA, NCQA standards, and state and federal laws such as Workers' Compensation Law.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with best practices in critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialty areas like ophthalmology or dialysis.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, discharge planning, and case management strategies.
- Monitor quality metrics related to patient safety, infection control, medication administration, and documentation accuracy within EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Epic.
- Support staff in managing complex cases involving trauma medicine, ICU or PICU experience, long-term care residents, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Lead initiatives for staff training on aseptic techniques, IV infusion procedures, suturing skills, and advanced clinical interventions such as ventilator management or ostomy care.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Proven leadership experience as a Director of Nursing or similar senior nursing role within a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Extensive knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices along with specialized experience in critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), or neonatal intensive care (NICU).
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar EMR/EHR platforms.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory/test result interpretation.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with disabilities or in hospice & palliative care settings.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving pain management, infectious disease care, dialysis treatments, catheterization procedures, telemetry monitoring, and post-acute care transitions.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with critical thinking abilities to lead emergency responses and triage effectively.
