St. Francis de Sales Parish School is seeking a passionate and faith filled individual to serve as our school nurse while our current nurse is on maternity leave. The anticipated time frame is March 11- May 30. During this time period a school nurse would work from 8:00a-3:30p. Akron is still the Rubber City in layout and nickname, but daily life now orbits healthcare systems, the University of Akron, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park on the north city line. For a nurse, that means centralized hospital and county jobs, trailheads minutes from Highland Square or Merriman Valley, and housing that undercuts much of the country—downtown 1-bedrooms near $800, older buyable homes in Firestone Park, first houses around $145,000 in Mogadore. Live downtown or Highland Square to walk to the Art Museum, Civic Theatre, Lock 3 concerts, and RubberDucks games at Canal Park; choose Cuyahoga Falls (about 22 minutes on OH-8/I-77) or Stow for Gorge Metro Park and stronger schools. Tradeoffs are real: many houses predate 1940 and need electrical and foundation work, rush-hour east–west drives crawl, winter freeze-thaw beats up streets, and vacant storefronts remain. Crime runs higher south and west of the core, so a suspiciously cheap listing is a location warning. Pick the neighborhood on purpose; the parks and prices are why people stay.
