- Patients
- Pediatric through geriatric patients We serve the entire age continuum from the pediatric to the geriatric patients.
- Cross-training
- Rotates across Preop, Phase 1 and Phase 2 as unit needs require Nurses in this unit care for the perianesthesia patient throughout all phases including Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2; and can rotate as needed to fit the needs of the unit.
- Weekends
- 1-2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule There are 1-2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- On call
- 2-3 on-call shifts per six-week schedule 2-3 on call shifts required per six-week schedule.
- Holidays

This dynamic perianesthesia care unit (PACU) serves a wide variety of surgical patients from the ambulatory to those requiring critical care. The surgical population includes ENT, general, colorectal, neurosurgery, orthopedic, plastics (both cosmetic and trauma), thoracic, transplants, and urology.
