Position Summary
As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality nursing care in a therapeutic environment while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and treatment goals. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with patients and their families while helping create a safe and supportive healing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Provide comprehensive nursing care to children, adolescents, and adults receiving behavioral health services. Perform nursing assessments and develop individualized patient care plans. Monitor patient progress and modify care plans as needed. Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes through daily nursing notes. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans and measurable goals. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
Leadership & Patient Advocacy
Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that protects patient rights and promotes recovery. Establish positive and professional relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Participate in treatment team meetings and interdisciplinary care planning. Support and mentor fellow nursing staff when appropriate. Advocate for patient needs while ensuring quality and continuity of care.
Qualifications
Required
Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact State RN license eligible for Texas practice. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills. Commitment to delivering patient-centered, compassionate care.
Preferred
Previous behavioral health, psychiatric, or pediatric nursing experience. Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Knowledge of behavioral health assessment, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.
