RN/LVN Charge nurse 12 hour shifts (6a to 6p and 6p to 6a)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic RN/LVN Charge Nurse to lead our nursing team during 12-hour shifts, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. This pivotal role involves overseeing patient care, coordinating clinical activities, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Charge Nurse will serve as a clinical leader, fostering teamwork, maintaining high-quality care, and supporting staff development. Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of nursing staff during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to care plans and hospital protocols
• Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation with precision and attention to detail
• Oversee medication administration, IV infusions, wound suturing, and aseptic techniques to maintain safety standards
• Facilitate effective communication among interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and support staff
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Cerner or Epic
• Manage triage processes for incoming patients, prioritizing urgent needs in emergency or acute care situations
• Support discharge planning, patient education, and coordination with home care or long-term care facilities

Experience

• Proven experience in acute care settings such as ICU, Emergency Room, or Level I Trauma Center preferred
• Strong background in medical-surgical nursing with familiarity in cardiology procedures like cardiac catheterization and trauma medicine
• Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and individuals with developmental disabilities
• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding, laboratory procedures, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
• Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising nursing teams during demanding shifts while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are advantageous
