Chesapeake area index 97.9, where 100 is the national average.
Chesapeake sits in Virginia's coastal Hampton Roads region, offering a quieter suburban pace near Norfolk and Virginia Beach. The Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge provides miles of trails and kayaking. With multiple hospital systems nearby, it's a solid pick for nurses seeking outdoor access without urban density.
