Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical Telemetry for a 13-week contract opportunity in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2+ years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry experience and strong acute-care hospital experience. Telemetry experience is required. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Requirements

  • Active RN license — current or conditional Massachusetts RN license required for submission
  • Minimum 1–2+ years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry experience
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Acute-care hospital experience required
  • Current AHA BLS certification required
  • AHA ACLS preferred
  • EPIC experience preferred
  • Charge RN experience highly preferred
  • Must be willing to float as required
  • Must work every other weekend
  • Must work every other major holiday
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Valid driver’s license with address matching candidate demographics
  • Two recent MS/Telemetry Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor references
  • Skills checklist matching the specialty
  • NURSYS license verification pulled within the last 7 days
  • RTO must be provided at the time of submission and is not guaranteed after confirmation

Common Patient Diagnoses

Experience caring for patients with conditions including

  • Alcohol abuse
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • CHF
  • Sepsis
  • Pneumonia

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates should have experience administering and managing

  • Antibiotics
  • Anticoagulants
  • Blood products
  • Lasix
  • Amiodarone
  • Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm assessment

Equipment

Experience with the following equipment is preferred

  • Pyxis
  • Zebra scanners
  • Bladder scanners
  • Dopplers
  • General medical equipment

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in clinical condition.
  • Provide direct nursing care to acute-care MedSurg/Telemetry patients.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs and promptly escalate significant changes.
  • Administer medications and IV therapies safely according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and care coordination.
  • Support safe patient care while floating to other appropriate units as required.

Orientation

Hospital orientation will be followed by two shifts on the unit with a preceptor .

Pay: $3,000.00 - $3,050.00 per week
