About this role

What We Offer

Join the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) at Novant Health, where you'll care for some of the most critically ill patients while building specialized expertise in neurological critical care. This 13-bed unit provides highly specialized care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, penetrating head trauma such as gunshot wounds, stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, status epilepticus, neuromuscular disorders, and post-operative neurosurgical patients. As a Neuro ICU nurse, you'll make a meaningful impact by combining advanced clinical knowledge with compassionate, patient-centered care during some of the most critical moments in a patient's recovery.

With a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, you'll work alongside neuro-intensivists, neurosurgeons, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, dietitians, case managers, and fellow critical care nurses in a highly collaborative environment. As a regional destination for neurological and traumatic injuries, the unit cares for patients whose conditions require continuous assessment, rapid clinical decision-making, and exceptional teamwork. Because many patients are unable to communicate or are experiencing altered neurological function, nurses rely heavily on detailed neurological assessments, critical thinking, and a strong foundation in neuroanatomy and physiology.

Just as important is the ability to provide reassurance and compassionate communication for patients and families navigating some of life's most challenging moments.

We're looking for compassionate, curious Registered Nurses who are eager to grow their expertise in neuro critical care. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Whether you're already experienced in critical care or looking to develop specialized neurological nursing skills, you'll join a team that values mentorship, clinical excellence, and delivering remarkable care to patients recovering from complex neurological and traumatic injuries.
