- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, immunizations, and botulinum toxin treatments, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients' conditions closely in various settings such as ICU, emergency room, surgical units, or long-term care facilities; manage acute pain and provide trauma or emergency medicine support.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection, processing, and imaging procedures such as sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, including discharge planning and case management for diverse populations like pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation of patient care activities.
- Support specialized treatments such as dialysis, ostomy care, or wound suturing in accordance with clinical standards.
*Skills*
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; familiarity with trauma medicine and Level II trauma center protocols preferred.
- Skilled in IV insertion, catheterization (urinary or vascular), phlebotomy, and sterile processing procedures.
- Ability to perform complex patient assessments and manage airway equipment like ventilators or oxygen therapy devices effectively.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with laboratory testing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients on health coaching topics like nutrition or medication management; experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is a plus.
