Job Description

Shriners Children’s is seeking a skilled, collaborative part-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support our pediatric orthopedic outreach clinic in Redmond, Oregon. This 0.2 FTE role helps ensure consistent access to high-quality pediatric orthopedic care for children and families throughout Central Oregon. The APP will work closely with Shriners Children’s Portland pediatric orthopedic surgeons, progressing toward greater clinical independence through a structured onboarding and training program.

Initially, the APP will partner directly with physicians on patient evaluations, treatment planning, and clinical procedures. As competencies are achieved, the APP will assume increasing responsibility for the independent management of pediatric orthopedic patients in an outpatient setting. To support specialty development, the selected APP will participate in a comprehensive one-year orientation program, including in-person training at Shriners Children’s Portland on the first and third Fridays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Travel-related expenses associated with these training days will be covered by Shriners Children’s. This provider will deliver comprehensive pediatric orthopedic care in an exclusively outpatient setting, managing preoperative, postoperative, and non-operative patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, scoliosis, sports injuries, neuromuscular disorders, developmental delays, and other orthopedic concerns. Responsibilities include conducting new patient evaluations, performing routine follow-up care, providing fracture management, applying casts and splints, educating patients and families, and coordinating treatment plans.

There are no operating room, first assist, or procedural sedation responsibilities associated with this position. The APP will provide patient care in Redmond on the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the potential for additional clinic days as patient demand increases. The provider will collaborate closely with pediatric orthopedic surgeons, nurses, medical assistants, and support staff to deliver exceptional, family-centered care.

Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of three years of advanced practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Prior orthopedic experience is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, strong musculoskeletal assessment skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a commitment to delivering outstanding care to pediatric patients and their families.

This is an excellent opportunity for an APP who is passionate about pediatric orthopedics and seeks to practice in a highly specialized, mission-driven environment while helping expand access to expert pediatric orthopedic care throughout Central Oregon. The hourly compensation range is $73.52 to $110.29, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
