About this role

Role: Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Responsibilities

Contribute to patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Provide compassionate, direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostics. Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Educate patients and families, coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, and participate in unit-based decision-making. Mentor new staff and students, and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Qualifications & Skills

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program. Experience in cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgical units preferred. Demonstrates a strong interest in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular care, with a focus on patient outcomes and experience. Ability to work in a clinical environment, collaborate effectively, and adapt to evidence-based practices.

Duties

Assess patient needs, implement care plans, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and facilitate communication among care team members. Support discharge planning and patient education, and participate in performance appraisals and mentorship.

Work Environment & Opportunities: Typically performed in a clinical setting with opportunities for growth and professional development. Supportive leadership, shared governance, and community involvement are emphasized. The role includes working evening/night shifts with every other weekend and holiday requirements.
