RN Surgery Manager

Kindred Hospital San Diego is a 70-bed long-term acute care hospital offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. We partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. For those who need special care, we offer an eight-bed ICU and two negative pressure rooms. We are located just outside of downtown San Diego, less than two miles north of the San Diego Zoo.

Job Summary

Responsible to coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the surgical area.

Essential Functions

Direct the daily operations of the department including staff scheduling, ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care. Develop new methods to improve existing systems or operations. Assess developmental needs of staff and develop continuing education and quality assurance programs to optimize patient care.

Research supplies, instruments and equipment and recommend purchases to the Director. Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of subordinates and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and organization philosophy. Maintain the necessary level of professional knowledge and technical proficiency in areas of functional responsibility.

Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Must read, write and speak fluent English Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, word-processing and spreadsheet software. Must have good and regular attendance. Approximate percent of time required to travel: 0% Performs other related duties as assigned.

Licenses/Certifications Valid state license as Registered Nurse. ANOR certification preferred. BLS certification required.

Experience Three years of operating room experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
