Summary of Job

Duties

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (F5/H5). This is a 64 bed NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) with single-room design providing care for early high-risk, low birth weight infants as well as acutely ill full-term newborns. NICU is a Level IIIB Nursery and provides 24/7 physician and nursing care to serve the citizens of the State of Arkansas.

High level developmental and technological care is combined with the specialized neonatal expertise of our health care team. The dedication of our NICU team allows us to provide patient- and family-centered care through Comfort, Hope and Healing to each infant and their family.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. Valid RN License. 1 year of Registered Nursing direct patient care experience. Excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills. Strong work ethics and accountability.

National Certification BSN or MSN 2 or more years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in an acute care setting such as a teaching hospital NICU experience

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for patients in within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members. Collects and documents assessment data. Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard. Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach. Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes. Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. May perform other duties as assigned.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
