Tradeoffs are blunt: you need a car, traffic is growing, sales tax is about 9.25%, housing is climbing, summers are hot and humid, and pollen is heavy. Crime is block-by-block, not citywide—Downtown and Fourth & Gill grade relatively safe; Hardin Valley and Farragut are the school play. Pick the neighborhood, not the headline.
