Registered Nurse - L&D (Days)

Under general supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Staff RN provides professional nursing skills utilizing the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for assigned patients. Serves as a patient advocate within the health care system.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population, which includes obstetrical, postpartum, newborn, Level 2 nursery, and post-surgical patients. Accountable for assuring the safety, comfort, care, and treatment of patients according to legal, ethical, professional and institutional standards. Participates in the hospital's Quality Improvement and Service Excellence programs.

Requirements

Graduate of a school of professional nursing required. One year of L&D experience preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or immediately eligible. Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certifications required within 90 days of employment. Appropriate level Fetal Monitoring course required within 90 days of employment.
