Job Description: Provides medical screening exams making independent assessment. Examines and treats patients in an acute and sub-acute care setting for episodic visits and on-going care of chronic and/or acute health conditions according to updated guidelines. Identifies and manages disease processes according to updated guidelines and evidence-base system. Consult with a supervising Physician whenever there is a significant health condition beyond competency and prior to initiation of any major treatment plan or major procedure. Required Skills: 1. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. 2. Effective oral and written communication skills. 3. Ability to remain flexible and positive in stressful situations. 4. Effective assessment, evaluation and resolution skills. 5. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. Required Experience: Work Experience: Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Emergency department required. Experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. License/Registration/ Certification: 1. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas required. 2. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the State of Texas. 3. Nurse Practitioner Certified by The National Certification Corporation (NCC) or any other body accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing. 4. Current CPR, ACLS and PALS certification required. 5. Must have DEA Number, DPS Number, and the ability to obtain an NPI Number. Education and Training: Master of Science in Nursing required. Location: University Medical Center of El Paso · ED Advance Practitioners Schedule: Part Time, Rotating, Rotating
