To perform public/community health nursing services in clinics, homes and in the community; and to provide community and client centered counseling, education and information concerning illnesses.

Minimum Qualifications

Education And Training

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing, or equivalent registered nurse experience. (The District will accept two years of registered nursing experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.)

Experience

One year of general registered nursing experience preferably within the last five years. The one year requirement may be waived when a Bachelor of Science in Nursing has been obtained within the last two years with coursework in Community Health Nursing.

License Or Certificate

Possession of an appropriate, valid State Registered Nurse license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid BLS/CPR certificate within six (6) months of employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver’s license.

Education And Training

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing or equivalent registered nursing education, training, and experience.

Experience

Two (2) years’ experience as a registered nurse that includes a minimum of one (1) year of community health nursing experience, preferable within the last five (5) years. Community Health Nursing is defined as a nursing assignment in a community based program such as those in school nursing, jails/prisons, industrial settings, home visits, case management, or community outreach programs associated with hospitals. Private physicians’ offices and hospital settings are not considered a part of community health unless there is an outreach aspect which the candidate has been assigned to for a minimum of one year.

License Or Certificate

Desirable

Qualifications

Prior experience working in the field with homeless populations preferred Experience working in a public heath setting, providing medical care in the field and providing medical care for vulnerable populations or people experiencing homelessness preferred. Prior home visiting experience preferred.
