Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of wounds and skin integrity
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans
  • Provide appropriate wound treatments based on clinical assessment and established protocols
  • Monitor wound healing and modify care recommendations as needed
  • Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately
  • Identify potential complications and communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals
  • Educate patients and families regarding wound prevention, treatment, and ongoing care
  • Provide guidance and clinical support to nursing staff regarding wound management
  • Promote effective pressure injury prevention and skin care practices
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support positive patient outcomes
  • Maintain compliance with applicable nursing standards, policies, and regulations

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree or higher in Nursing
  • Active California Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Extensive professional experience in wound care
  • Wound care certification such as CWCN, CWOCN, or equivalent
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Additional wound care education or specialized training
  • Experience working with complex or chronic wounds
  • Experience providing clinical education or guidance to nursing staff
  • Strong knowledge of pressure injury prevention and skin integrity management
