  • Oversee medical documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and state healthcare regulations.
  • Manage scheduling for nursing staff and clinical teams, facilitating effective team management and supervising daily operations.
  • Assist with utilization review, case management, and discharge planning to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
  • Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner, Epic, or Athenahealth to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.
  • Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and basic life support (BLS) procedures such as IV insertion, catheter care, and specimen collection.
  • Support infection control protocols, medication administration, tube feeding management, and sterile processing procedures to uphold safety standards.

Skills

  • Extensive experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient data management.
  • Critical care experience in settings such as ICU or Level I/II Trauma Centers; familiarity with ventilator management and airway management techniques.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding for procedures like cardiac catheterization or sonography; knowledge of DRG systems for billing purposes.
  • Strong understanding of hospital medicine, emergency medicine protocols, geriatrics including dementia care and memory care, pediatric care including neonatal ventilator management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in nurse management roles; supervising teams within long-term care facilities or hospital settings while ensuring compliance with nursing policies.
  • Skilled in performing diagnostic evaluations such as spinal taps or gastric lavage; adept at managing acute pain and infection control measures.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to medication administration, injection techniques, venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile techniques.
