Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Brooklyn, NY
- Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri 7:30a-6p
- Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)
In This Role, You Will
- Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
- Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
- Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
- Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
- Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
- Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
- Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
- Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
- Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services
We Require
- Valid New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
- Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
