*Position Summary*

The *Area Manager* is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of multiple water and wastewater treatment facilities within the Triangle area.

This position ensures all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. The Area Manager provides leadership and support to operations staff, serves as a key liaison with regulatory agencies, and supports our commitment to environmental stewardship, public health, and operational excellence.

*Key Responsibilities*

✔ Oversee daily operations of assigned water and wastewater treatment facilities to ensure continuous, reliable, and compliant service ✔ Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, permits, and reporting requirements ✔ Monitor system performance, process control data, and compliance metrics while implementing corrective actions when needed ✔ Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate operators, technicians, and site supervisors ✔ Coordinate and support regulatory inspections, audits, and site visits ✔ Address compliance findings and implement corrective measures ✔ Ensure accurate and timely completion of operational logs, Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs), compliance reports, and internal documentation ✔ Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and best management practices ✔ Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams on system improvements, capital projects, and process optimization ✔ Manage operational budgets related to maintenance, staffing, and minor capital expenditures ✔ Provide emergency response and on-call support for system issues, compliance concerns, or infrastructure failures ✔ Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding system performance and compliance

✅ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred (not required) ✅ High school diploma or equivalent required ✅ Minimum *3–5 years of progressive experience* in water and/or wastewater treatment operations ✅ Previous supervisory, leadership, or lead operator experience required ✅ Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and regulatory compliance standards ✅ Understanding of state and federal environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements ✅ Ability to manage multiple facilities, teams, and priorities across a defined geographic area ✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills ✅ Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English ✅ Valid State Driver’s License required ✅ U. S. Citizen (E-Verification Required) ✅ No felony or major misdemeanor convictions

*Preferred Skills & Certifications*

• ⭐ Grade III Biological Wastewater License preferred
• ⭐ Grade C Water License preferred
• ⭐ Distribution and/or Collections licenses preferred
• ⭐ CPR and First Aid certification required within 12 months of hire

*Working Conditions*

• Combination of office, field, and treatment facility-based work
• Regular travel throughout the Triangle geographical area
• May require after-hours, weekend, and emergency response availability
