Summary
To assist the school staff in providing the fullest possible educational opportunities for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of good health and well-being in the schools
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and nursing area as assigned
- Follows all policies and procedures
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records of students as required
- Coordinates school health services with public health services as needed
- Reports to parents, school personnel, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters as necessary
- Assists with care for children with special needs
- Prepares a list for administrators/teachers of students who have specific health problems that might require modifications of physical activities or seating arrangements in the class
- Reports student/staff injuries and accidents to the building principal, assumes authority for care for those needing emergency assistance, and provides supervision for students until they are placed under their parents' care
- Maintains contact with the local health department and assists in exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases
- Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools

Holds a valid state license as either a registered or licensed practical nurse
Knowledge, skills and abilities

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Valid Driver's License
