Education and Training - Currently licensed and registered to practice as a practical nurse in New York State. Check your license
Certification
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
Education
The individual could also be a graduate of a practical nursing program in New York State who has applied for a permit.

Position Summary

The LPN is supervised by a registered nurse. The job duties and responsibilities are to be performed while observing the following standards: job standard (knowledge, ability, skills), technical skill, quality, quantity, judgement/problem solving, decision making, and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver direct resident care and assist nurse's aides when necessary. Deliver resident care, treatments and medication administration to assigned residents. Report to supervisor the condition of residents and result of treatment.

Report to physician the condition of residents, take off orders, documents, and follow-up orders to their conclusion. Document pertinent information on all assigned residents. Arrange for transfer of residents to hospitals or clinics.

Maintain records of all controlled drugs and keep inventory count at the beginning and end of each shift Check residents' comfort, follow-up as necessary, answer call bell as required. Collect tests and report specimens as necessary. Perform other nursing duties as required.

Responsible for knowing and following resident’s plan of care for assigned residents. Responsible to report any employees not following plan of care. Perform other related duties as required by their manager.
