The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a long-term care setting. The role supports the patient care plan, administers medications and treatments, and collaborates with the care team to maintain high standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including assistance with personal hygiene and participation in the patient care plan
- Administer medications and treatments, including respiratory therapy modalities, and document administration
- Apply infection control policies to protect patients and staff
- Monitor patients, report changes in condition, and take appropriate action in urgent situations
- Offer patient instruction during hospitalization and at discharge
- Support orientation and ongoing learning for new staff and students
Requirements
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse license (current)
- CPR and ACLS certifications required
Education
Graduate of an approved LPN program with current licensure
- Visual, auditory and manual dexterity abilities to assess patient conditions and provide safe care
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn facility computer programs
- Ability to work in a long-term care setting
