As a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner, a typical day may include:
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, written, and active listening techniques; responds to requests and inquiries promptly and professionally
- Manages time efficiently by setting priorities, organizing tasks, and completing assignments with a sense of urgency and accuracy in the time requested
- Builds and maintains positive, culturally competent relationships with employees, physicians, patients, and visitors; resolves conflicts diplomatically
- Applies strong leadership practices such as employee recognition, ongoing performance feedback, and effective interviewing to support retention and team development
- Continuously seeks to improve processes and services using constructive feedback, resource allocation, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Executes additional duties and responsibilities as delegated within NPD Scope and Standards of Practice or as requested and/or assigned
- Travel throughout RWJBarnabas Health is required at times to support education being offered at regional locations
This role might be for you if
- You have 2 years of experience in a nursing specialty of given NPDP role
- Facilitating professional role development and practice role transitions, including the RN Residency Program, nurse externship, and experiences for nursing students move you
- Regularly encouraging personnel to grow professionally by pursuing educational development specialties on hospital-wide/system-wide committees and councils drive outcomes
- Plan for integration of resources that address engagement, health/wellness, and factors contributing to a healthy interprofessional practice and learning environment
- Contributing to improving quality services and productivity intrigues daily habits
- You are ready to take the initiative to continually evaluate one’s work, report problems, suggest solutions and try new ideas
- Ready to lead NPD initiatives for translating evidence-based findings into practice
- A collaborative team culture is something you actively help strengthen
To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. An MSN or doctorate is preferred. A certification in a nursing specialty of a given NPDP role is recommended and NPDPs for certain specialty areas may also have job-specific qualifications, when appropriate, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
