About this role
Mission Hospital Mission Viejo is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join the team in Mission Viejo, California. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for supporting the cardiothoracic surgery program to meet the needs of patients, families, staff, and physicians. The NP or PA facilitates coordination of patient care and education while promoting appropriate utilization of resources across the continuum of care.
This role functions as a clinical consultant and resource to staff and departments, assists with patient care, skills validation, and training, and participates in educational activities and quality improvement initiatives to advance patient care and outcomes. This role will work collaboratively with the surgeon and interdisciplinary care team to support safe perioperative care promoting optimal patient outcomes. The NP or PA will provide direct patient care throughout the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative evaluation, post-operative management, patient and family education, discharge planning, and surgical support as applicable to training, certification, and credentialing.
