Clinical Nurse II - NBMC 1600 Surgical (Per Diem, Day)

The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing. The RN, utilizing Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring Relationship Based Care, and NorthBay’s professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care. The RN makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.

Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psychosocial needs of the patient. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.

Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing
• Nursing degree of BSN level or higher is required. (excludes grandfathered employees)

License and Certifications

• Valid, current and unencumbered RN license by the State of California.

• Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS and ACLS required.

• Must have Telemetry certification within 3 months of employment.

• National nursing certification is preferred

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

• Six months acute care RN experience required (One full year of skilled nursing care, Long Term Acute Care, or Acute Rehabilitation is equivalent to six months of acute care experience.)

• One year of Medical/Surgical experience highly preferred.

• Competent in providing skilled registered nursing care to Medical/Surgical/Tele level patients

• Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.

Other

• All RNs in the Patient Care Services Department are required to wear Graphite (Dark Gray) colored scrubs per the professional appearance policy.

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.
