  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care during weekend shifts, overseeing both LVN and RN responsibilities as a double charge nurse.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
  • Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, injections, and catheter care following aseptic techniques.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Point Click Care to document all patient interactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, including pain management and critical care interventions.
  • Monitor patients with complex needs.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies including acute pain episodes, trauma cases, or infectious disease outbreaks by applying trauma medicine protocols and critical response procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation to support quality assurance and legal standards.
  • Support discharge planning efforts by preparing patients for transfer or discharge while educating them on medication administration, wound care, and follow-up appointments.

*Requirements*

  • Valid LVN or RN license in good standing; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), are highly preferred.
  • Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, long-term care, assisted living, or hospice & palliative medicine settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheterization, ostomy care, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Critical care experience within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable; experience working with individuals with disabilities or in behavioral health is a plus.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to manage acute pain and infectious disease cases effectively.
  • Ability to work independently during weekend shifts while collaborating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care; familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards is essential.
