About this role

The Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while improving the field of neuroscience.

Our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is hiring a Nurse Manager. In this role, you will utilize your strong clinical judgement and administrative skills in equal parts. You are the primary point of contact for day to day operational decisions and maintain quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and departmental effectiveness. The Semmes Murphey Surgery Center is proud to hold accreditation through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Adhering to these rigorous standards and education drives our quality improvement and patient care efforts. A working knowledge or familiarity of this accrediting body and their standards for this role is a plus.

Our ASC is open Monday to Friday. We are closed nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time, onsite position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels for daily procedural volume and operational needs, address call-ins, staffing shortages; approve time cards and paid time off requests
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and orientation schedules for new employees
  • Address employee relations concerns, participate in disciplinary processes, provide coaching, mentoring, and professional guidance to staff members
  • Serve as the primary clinical and operational resource for physicians, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel
  • Lead staff meetings and safety huddles on a regular basis, communicate organizational changes or expectations to staff
  • Provide clinical guidance for complex patient cases and ensure appropriate escalation and resolution of patient care concerns
  • Monitor equipment, supply inventory, and resource utilization
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory, accreditation, and licensing surveys, participate in audits and compliance reviews
  • Address deficiencies identified through audits, surveys, environmental rounds and quality reviews
  • Foster positive physician and clinic relationships and support efficient access to surgical services

Requirements

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Five (5) years’ nursing experience
  • Two (2) years’ supervisory experience
  • Current RN license in Tennessee or compact state
  • BLS certification

Preferred

  • Prior experience working in a surgery center or a AAAHC accredited facility
  • ACLS certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of nursing principles, with the ability to work in staffing if short-staffed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations
  • Can provide excellent customer service and manage difficult or emotional situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully interact with all levels of an organization and the public
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and prioritize demands, with excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Can lead staff with patience and confidence
