Job Description

Position includes recovering patients from anesthesia as well as managing postoperative care, including recovery from general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and IV sedation. We are a 28 bed PACU, providing service to a variety of surgical services, such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery including spine surgery, plastic surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiac procedures (TAVR), bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT and OMF surgery. Also included is managing the recovery of GI advanced procedure patients as well as outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients.

We are a fast paced unit receiving patients from 40+ operating rooms and we provide service 24/7. ICU experience is preferred although we will consider nurses with ED, Step-down and floor level experience on an individual basis. ACLS certification is required for external candidates as we frequently care for ICU and step-down patients. Nurse/Patient ratio is 2:1. We are looking for candidates with a positive outlook, an open mind and a “can-do” attitude.

Qualifications

  • Current Connecticut RN License.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • ICU experience preferred
  • BSN Preferred
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
  • ACLS required for external candidates
