Responsibilities

  • Deliver perioperative nursing care for general surgery, robotics, ortho, GU/GYN, ENT, and plastics cases in the operating room
  • Maintain sterile technique, prepare and assist with procedures, and manage instrument counts and equipment
  • Monitor patient status during anesthesia and through the immediate postoperative phase; document care in the EMR
  • Collaborate with the surgical team (surgeons, circulating nurses, anesthesiologists) to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
  • Support room turnover, equipment readiness, and adherence to safety and infection-control policies
  • Weekend coverage required (1–2 weekends every 3 months) and on-call duties (3–6 days in 3 months) as per unit needs

Requirements

  • Active KS RN license or compact state license
  • BLS certification (AHA)
  • 1 year of OR or general surgery experience (including robotics, orthopedics, GU/GYN, ENT, plastics)
  • Ability to work 4x10-hour day shifts and to function effectively in an OR setting
  • New graduates not accepted for this assignment
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred; orientation and training will be conducted through the onboarding process
