About this role

To work with parents, staff members, and other community resources to assist and promote health of students by providing direct nursing care and identifying, intervening, and preventing health problems in the educational environment. Provides health assessment, emergency assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and management for students, staff, and families. Implements Student Health Plans in the school environment. Participates in Communicable Disease reporting and prevention. Administers direct nursing care as ordered by physician. Administers medications within established procedures. Identifies abnormal health findings and provides community healthcare resources. Documents and maintains records for all health office visits. Reports statistical data to ISBE, IDPH, and DHS. This is a 10-month position. Elementary schools are 6.5 hours per day, middle schools 7.5 hours per day, high schools 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Assignments are predominately at one location but all nurses are district-wide staff.

Requirements

  • Associate, Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited nursing program
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
  • Current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • BLS Certification
  • Ability to make independent health care decisions
  • Good organizational skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
