As a Pediatric Oncology Nurse in our Radiation Oncology Clinic , you’ll be part of a fast-paced, tight-knit team that serves on the frontlines of patient care. Primary care coordinator of interdisciplinary patient care activities and responsible for the management of patients throughout their continuum of care at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Responsible and accountable for high quality patient care through implementation of the nursing process including assessment of patient needs (physical, psychosocial, educational), design of a collaborative plan of care, implementation of the plan with appropriate delegation of tasks, coordination of team effort, and evaluation of patient progress towards outcomes.
Acts as a patient/family advocate, she/he seeks opportunities to communicate and coordinate patient care activities throughout the continuum in collaboration with other members of the Health Care Team.
Monday - Friday 10 hours shifts with rotating off day. Holiday requirement and minimal weekend.
Minimum Education and/or Training
Bachelor's of Nursing required.
For Internal St Jude employees only: Will consider Associate degree on career path to BSN; BSN required within 3 years.
Basic Life Support (BLS), required. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred.
Minimum
Experience
Basic pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
Familiarity with research protocols, preferred.
Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal and patient education skills.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
Knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
Ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
Proven performance in earlier role.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law
(LC: RN-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
(LC: RN-ARK or RN-MISS) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only
Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
Compensation In recognition of certain U. S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: Radiation Oncology Clinic.
