Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse at Avenora Elmhurst, you will

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders and individualized care plans.
  • Perform resident assessments and monitor changes in clinical condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Provide wound care, IV therapy, feeding tube care, catheter care, and other skilled nursing treatments as appropriate.
  • Notify physicians, nurse practitioners, supervisors, and families of significant changes in resident condition.
  • Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation.
  • Review and implement physician/provider orders.
  • Participate in admissions, readmissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, therapy, pharmacy, dietary, social services, hospice, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervise and provide clinical direction to LPNs and CNAs when serving as charge nurse.
  • Promote fall prevention, pressure-injury prevention, infection control, and resident safety.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in resident condition.
  • Protect resident rights, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Follow infection-control, HIPAA, facility, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement and survey-readiness activities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or authorization to practice in Illinois.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification as required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Reliable attendance and professional conduct.

Preferred

  • Skilled nursing or long-term care experience.
  • Post-acute rehabilitation experience.
  • Charge nurse experience.
  • Wound care, IV therapy, feeding tube, or complex clinical-care experience.

New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply.
