General Information Official Job Title: Registered Nurse Department: Health Center Reports To: Director of Nursing FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Type: Regular Full Time Eligible For Benefits: Yes Job Objective/ Summary The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing services and patient care , follows established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Ensures adherence to department and Company policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. Essential Functions Provides direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments Performs evaluation of new and existing patients to determine priority and suitability of treatment and/or need for modifications Administers prescribed medications, applies sterile dressings, performs phlebotomy, and monitors vital signs Maintains confidentiality of patient records May perform specialized nursing procedures related to the unique needs of a particular patient population May oversee and guide the work of other nursing and support staff Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Adheres to The Estates at Carpenters’ policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintain confidentiality and respects resident’s privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations Other Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates the values of The Estates at Carpenters: integrity, stewardship, compassion, community, excellence, dignity, and service. Attends and participates in orientation, training and educational activities as required Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and policies Demonstrates the values of The Estates at Carpenters: integrity, stewardship, compassion, community, excellence, dignity, and service. Qualifications and Job Requirements Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience Requires a current RN license in good standing in the state of Florida Minimum of 1 year of previous nurse experience in a long-term care setting CPR Certification in good standing and maintained Supervision (direct reports and level of supervision) Oversee and guide the work of other nursing and support staff. Decision Making Authority Nursing care that is in the best interest of the resident. Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative healthcare measures Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient and personal services. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective, local, state, or national security operations for the protections of people, data, property, and institutions Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people Active Listening – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems Problem Sensitivity – the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong Additional Requirements/Preferences Requirements Must successfully pass the mandated criminal background checks. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks. Must be able to provide official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application. Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation. Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the U. S. Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive). Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category II Your tasks routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In compliance with OSHA standards on blood borne pathogens, The Estates at Carpenters will offer Hepatitis B vaccine to all employees who are determined to be at risk of exposure to blood or other body fluids and follow up to all employees who have had an exposure incident. This vaccine will be provided at no cost to the employee. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects a minimum of 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
