The honest tradeoffs are a long gray winter (SAD comes up constantly), visible homelessness and drug activity concentrated downtown even as residential neighborhoods a few miles out feel quaint and safe, steep income taxes, and housing that still runs from Goose Hollow condos near $300K to Laurelhurst near $1 million.
