Function

The School Nurse performs multiple duties related to the health functions of JCFA. The Nurse is responsible for the record keeping, state reporting and administering medication and First Aid.

Qualifications

RN licensed in the states of Louisiana. Minimum of two years nursing experience and computer literacy.

Essential Functions

  • Provides medically prescribed interventions, including medication administration (based on Louisiana state regulations), and provides care to ill children on a daily basis, including first aid to injured students and staff.
  • Maintains comprehensive school health records
  • Administers or coordinates vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening. Refers for follow up evaluation when needed
  • Assists with school registration and interprets health requirements.
  • Assists in the development of individualized student health care plans.
  • Participates in student centered school team meetings, as appropriate.
  • Acts as a resource for health education for JCFA students
  • Enters Student information into the state’s Immunization Database (LINKS)
  • Files and catalogs student information regarding health related issues
  • Maintains accurate records of student health information
  • Creates health protocol for contagious diseases school wide
  • Works in coordination with the school counselor in identifying psycho-social needs and implementation of action plan
  • Assures that all student files have the required information for health purposes
  • Conducts annual training: CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Assists with other duties associated with the COVID pandemic

Compensation and Schedule

Daily activities will be provided based on the above list, as needed or required

$45-50 an hour

12-14 hours a week, 48-52 hours a month between the hours of 9:00AM and 12:30PM

Job Types: Part-time, Contract Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
