CNA, Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description

Provide direct patient care and continuous observation for individuals in acute mental health and substance use crises
Monitor, document, and report behavioral changes, safety risks, and patient status to nursing staff
Utilize verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to maintain a safe therapeutic environment
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, meals, and basic needs
Support milieu management, including facilitating groups and maintaining structure on the unit
Participate in team-based interventions, including 1:1 observation and physical interventions/restraints as needed
