Job Description and Duties
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) (Safety) position. The SRN will be assigned to Program V and is under the direct supervision of the Nursing Coordinators. The hours are subject to change based on operational need.
The Supervising Registered Nurse is responsible for the overall management and supervision of nursing services within an assigned unit or program. The incumbent plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates nursing operations to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient care in accordance with Department of State Hospitals (DSH) policies and procedures, appliable standards of care, and licensing requirements.
The SRN oversees unit operations and responds to clinical, staffing, and operational needs to support a safe and therapeutic treatment environment. Responsibilities include addressing patient and staff concerns; responding to and assisting with the management of disruptive or assaultive behavior; preparing reports; coordinating staffing coverage; and performing Program Officer of the day (POD) duties as assigned.

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
