Job Summary

Assume shift-level responsibility for nursing services across the hospital. Coordinate staffing and bed placement with unit leadership, support clinical operations during high-volume periods, interpret policy, and keep administration apprised of critical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Round on units; assess needs; collaborate with charge nurses to ensure continuity of care and safe staffing.
  • Allocate/reallocate personnel during surges, transfers, or emergencies; facilitate patient flow and throughput.
  • Serve as the on-site administrative resource: interpret hospital policies/regulations; support decision-making and escalation.
  • Promote effective communication and harmonious relationships among staff, medical providers, patients, and families.
  • Assist units during busy times; provide clinical guidance consistent with medical staff policies and orders.
  • Educate/mentor new RNs; provide in-services and reinforce core safety practices.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Current Arkansas RN license; BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; strong leadership, prioritization, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Prior leadership/charge/house supervisor experience in an acute-care setting.
  • Completion of annual safety/infection control in-services; committee participation.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Status: Full-time (exempt or non-exempt per policy)
  • Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts with nights/weekends/holidays; on-site hospital coverage
  • Pay: Competitive salary/hourly rate with applicable differentials (details during interview)
