What you will do

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments prior to cardiac stress testing procedures, including review of medical history, medications, allergies, and risk factors.
  • Prepare patients for exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns.
  • Obtain baseline vital signs and electrocardiograms (EKGs) and monitor patient responses throughout testing.
  • Administer medications associated with pharmacologic stress testing according to established protocols and provider orders.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, cardiac arrhythmias, adverse reactions, and medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and healthcare providers to ensure accurate testing and timely patient care.
  • Monitor and assess patients during the recovery phase following stress testing procedures.
  • Provide education regarding cardiac testing, medications, follow-up care, and heart-healthy lifestyle recommendations.
  • Document patient assessments, test results, interventions, and outcomes accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with department policies, accreditation standards, and patient safety guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Maintain equipment readiness and assist in ensuring proper functioning of stress testing and monitoring equipment.
  • Support a positive patient experience through professional communication, compassionate care, and teamwork.

What you will need

  • A Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing is required - BSN or ADN
  • BLS provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
  • Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting.

Compensation

Salary Range: $35.89 - $62.91per hour Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
