The Medical Oncology Nurse provides specialized care to cancer patients by administering treatments, monitoring progress, managing side effects, and offering emotional support. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals the Medical Oncology Nurse helps develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional conditions. Monitor vital signs, lab results, and other relevant data. Administer chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as prescribed. Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and other nursing interventions. Assist with procedures and treatments. Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Educate patients and families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and potential side effects. Advocate for patients' needs and preferences. Ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.

Contribute to the implementation of nursing protocols and guidelines. Stay current with the latest advancements in oncology care. Employee is responsible for completing 12 oncology specific CNE's annually. (36 CNE's are required every 3 years to meet the Commission on Cancer guidelines from date of hire) CNE's are tracked by the employees nursing supervisor.

Requirements
NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse, required
BLS Certification within 30 days from date of hire, required
ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration, preferred
