Passport Health
Registered Nurse – Local Travel | Travel Medicine Consultant
Chicago Market - Suburbs Clinics
Passport Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Illinois team as a Local Traveling RN. This is a full-time opportunity where you'll support a group of clinics throughout the Chicago metro market. Rather than working in the same clinic every day, you'll bring your clinical expertise to multiple locations while building specialized experience in travel medicine and preventive healthcare.
What You'll Do
At Passport Health, every client interaction is a consultation. You'll work directly with travelers to help them understand and prepare for the health considerations associated with international travel.
Your responsibilities will include
Conducting travel health consultations and reviewing individual health histories. Educating clients on destination-specific health risks and preventive care. Providing individualized vaccines and travel health recommendations.
Supporting the immigration physical process by reviewing medical histories to help determine testing and vaccination needs. Administering vaccinations and monitoring clients for adverse reactions. Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
Managing vaccine inventory and clinic readiness. Supporting day-to-day clinic operations. Providing nursing coverage across assigned local clinics.
Supporting corporate wellness programs and onsite vaccination events as needed. Completing required continuing education and training.
What Makes This Role Different?
As the primary nurse onsite, you'll have the opportunity to practice independently, apply your clinical judgment, and build specialized expertise in travel medicine, with access to remote clinical leadership and operational support when needed.
You'll work across multiple Passport Health clinics throughout your local market, offering variety in your workweek while maintaining a consistent, full-time role. This is local travel, not traditional travel nursing. You'll be assigned a group of clinics and travel between locations as needed to support patient demand and clinic coverage.
Current Role Overview
Clinic Assignment: Flexible weekly assignments across a defined group of Passport Health clinics within the assigned cluster, based on patient demand and operational needs. Employment: Full-time preferred (32–40 hours per week); part-time opportunities may be considered based on availability and scheduling flexibility.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, with biweekly Saturday commitments. Start times generally range from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., depending on clinic demand.
Compensation
Premium hourly rate, with travel allowance included for either personal vehicle, or public transportation
Local Travel Expectations
Your regular schedule will focus on your primary assigned clinic cluster, with assignments varying based on patient demand and coverage needs.
Primary Clinics – Required: Chicagoland Suburbs: Naperville, Hinsdale, Glen Ellyn, Oak Park Secondary Clinics – Ad Hoc Coverage: Vernon Hills, Orland Park, Rolling Meadows
The assigned cluster will serve as your primary coverage area. You may be scheduled across the clinics within that cluster throughout the workweek to support patient demand, maintain access, and ensure consistent clinic coverage.
For example: A typical week could include Clinic A on Monday and Wednesday, Clinic B on Tuesday, Clinic C on Thursday, and Clinic D on Friday. Actual assignments will vary based on patient demand and operational needs.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, personal auto insurance, and a clean driving record are required. You must be comfortable commuting between multiple assigned clinic locations throughout the workweek. Clinic assignments will be based on geography, patient demand, and operational needs. Travel between assigned clinics may be required depending on the day's schedule. Secondary clinic assignments may be scheduled as needed to address coverage gaps, support colleagues during approved time off, or meet changing operational needs. Overnight travel is not expected as part of the normal schedule.
