Van Buren County Hospital is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical services team on a PRN basis.
As a Critical Access Hospital, this role offers more than a traditional operating room position. In addition to providing perioperative nursing care as a circulating and/or scrub nurse, you'll also support our Outpatient Treatment Center, providing services such as wound care and infusion therapy. Key Responsibilities
Provide perioperative nursing care in accordance with established surgical protocols
Function as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse based on training and assignment
Maintain and enforce principles of surgical asepsis and sterile technique
Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures
Position patients appropriately to prevent injury, pressure points, or skin breakdown
Perform and document required sponge, needle, and instrument counts
Obtain medications, supplies, and equipment during procedures as needed
Monitor patient condition and communicate relevant information to the surgical team
Coordinate with anesthesia, surgeons, and support staff to ensure safe and efficient procedures
Provide nursing care in the wound/treatment room during scheduled or periodic rotation, including dress
