Position
summary
A licensed practical nurse is responsible for providing nursing care and assistance for ill and/or injured residents.
Responsibilities include
Operate pill call, provide med pass, distribute medication and document as required by applicable policies and procedures in designated location(s) Under direction of the RN on duty and in accordance with approved standing orders, obtain initial health information and assist with treatment of inmates reporting to sick call Refer inmates to providers when appropriate Assist with provider line Perform emergency procedures as needed and call physician for treatment orders when necessary Keep equipment and work area clean; Prepare exam room and equipment Control medication, syringes and other medical supplies as required Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules
Education and experience
requirements
Graduation from a licensed practical nurse program An active licensure as a practical nurse in the state of Florida One (1) year of experience preferred, to include EKG, phlebotomy, injections, IV, casting and wound care A valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management
