Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital located in Edina, MN!

This multi-diagnosis Intensive Care Unit cares for critically ill patients 18 years and older. We see approximately 8-10 open heart surgical patients per week as well as other major surgical patients, acute respiratory failure, OD / withdrawal, medical and surgical neuro and minimal trauma. We provide Telemedicine ICU services for the system and take care of patients with IABP, Impella, hypothermia therapy, and CRRT. However, we do transfer patients requiring LVAD or ECMO to the University of MN.

Schedule

This position will be working .75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift (7pm-7:30am). This position will also work a rotation for every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

About the ICU at Southdale Hospital

This position reports to the Nurse Manager and Patient Care Supervisor. We are a 23-bed unit. We have an average daily census of 20-21 patients. Currently, we have 110 FTEs/150 employees in the department. Approximately half of our RN staff has acquired an advanced certification in Critical Care Nursing. 24/7 Intensivist coverage in the ICU.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs. Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.

Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes. Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Current RN ICU or one year RN IMC experience in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Nursing 1 year RN ICU experience
