Position Overview
Registered Nurses (RNs) for contract assignments within its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Step-Down ICU units in Rockford, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care nursing experience, preferably gained in a Level I Trauma Center , and must be comfortable floating between the ICU and Step-Down ICU based on patient care needs.
This position requires a highly skilled and adaptable RN who can provide safe, evidence-based care to critically ill and medically complex patients while collaborating effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and step-down patients in accordance with established standards of practice.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, approved nursing practices, and applicable state laws.
- Monitor patients closely, recognize changes in clinical condition, and promptly escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
- Develop, initiate, and execute individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and ongoing care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current and active Illinois RN license .
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience .
- Strong ICU/Critical Care experience; Level I Trauma Center experience is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience caring for critically ill patients and/or Step-Down ICU patients.
